Gold medalist Shericka Jackson suffers injury during track and field event ahead of Paris Olympics

Jamaican star runner Shericka Jackson was leading a women's 200-meter race in Hungary on Tuesday when she suddenly stopped in apparent pain.

The event was being used as a preparation for the upcoming Olympics. The 2024 Summer Games begin later this month in Paris.

Jackson's apparent injury marks the latest setback for the Jamaican team, as Olympic women's 100m and 200m champion Elaine Thompson-Herah had already withdrawn from the Games due to injury.

Jackson began to limp with about 50 meters to go in the race, but managed to cross the finish line unassisted.

Saint Lucia's Julien Alfred crossed the finish line first and finished the race in a season-best time of 22.16 seconds. Sprinter Lanae-Tava Thomas took third place.
