Fever's Caitlin Clark firm ahead of WNBA debut: “I don't really get nervous”


The wait is over.

Caitlin Clark will make it highly anticipated WNBA debut on Tuesday night when the Indiana Fever take on the Connecticut Sun in their first regular season game of the season. But even with all eyes on her, the former Iowa star is as stable as ever.

“More than anything I feel really excited. I don't really get nervous. I don't get anxious.” Clark told reporters during his pregame media availability on Tuesday.

“I just have this giddy feeling of excitement, like I can't wait to be here and just go out and play and have a lot of fun.”

Clark's reputation as one of the university's most prolific 3-point shooters catapulted her into the spotlight. After becoming the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division 1 while she led hawk eyes For the national championship game last season, Clark was selected by the Fever with the first overall pick.

Women's basketball and the WNBA have benefited greatly from Clark's popularity.

FEVER'S CAITLIN CLARK DRAWS RECORD CROWD FOR HER INDIANA DEBUT: 'PRETTY UNUSUAL'

Clark, 22, will make her WNBA debut at Mohegan Sun Arena in front of a sold-out crowd, her second since beginning her professional career. In her preseason debut against the Dallas Wings earlier this month, Clark scored a team-high 21 points before a sold-out stadium.

Taking the field for the first time at Gainbridge Fieldhouse last week, Clark also drew a record crowd of 13,028, a franchise record triple last season's 4,000.

“Obviously our goal is to go out and win and dominate in all areas. But I think our group knows that if we go out and play like we should for 40 minutes, we'll get the result we want.” “Clark said before the announcement.

The WNBA season begins Tuesday with four games, beginning with the New York Liberty against the Washington Mystics. The Phoenix Mercury play the defending champion Las Vegas Aces and the Seattle Storm host the Minnesota Lynx.
