Erik Ten Hag can replace Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen

Erik Ten Hag is approaching a return to management with Bayer Leverkusen, sources told ESPN.

Ten Hag and their representatives have had constructive conversations with the side of the Bundesliga and there is hope on both sides that an agreement can be reached.

The Dutchman has been without a club since he left Manchester United in November.

The sources have told ESPN that he is reluctant to return to the former Ajax club, where there is also a vacancy, and that his preference is to take care of Bayer Leverkusen.

Leverkusen is looking for a new coach after Xabi Alonso agreed an agreement with Real Madrid after his manager left to assume the role of Brazil's manager.
