Dolphins' Tyreek Hill will go sleeveless as Miami-Kansas City prepares for freezing temperatures

Saturday's playoff game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins It's going to be quite cold.

Meteorologists predict sub-zero temperatures in Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, which could make the matchup one of the coldest postseason games in NFL history.

According fox weather, A polar vortex impacting the area is expected to cause temperatures to plummet, with highs reaching only single digits during the day. With kickoff at 8 p.m. ET, temperatures are expected to drop below freezing. Some projections predict temperatures that will reach -5 degrees.

The cold forecast has even led the Chiefs to warn fans attending the game to come prepared, with the team advising fans to “cover all exposed skin.”

Dolphins wide receiver Hill Tyreekwho spent the first six years of his NFL career with the Chiefs, is ignoring the organization's advice.

“Well, it's a way of thinking. I feel like if you think it's going to be cold, then you're going to freeze your f*** off,” Hill said when asked how to stay warm in cold weather, according to the Dolphins transcript. “But if you go into this game without even thinking about it, you'll be fine.

“Being me, I played there and I understand the conditions. I'm not even worried about that at all. I'm going to go out sleeveless and tell the rest of the guys it's a mentality. “If those guys see you wearing sleeves, they'll obviously think you're gentle. “We'll go out and do our thing.”

For the Dolphins, the weather is a stark contrast to what they are accustomed to in South Florida.

“Nobody likes to be cold,” Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said Thursday.

“The last time I played in zero degree weather was in 2021 in Green Bay in the divisional round. And like this team, we were in Santa Clara (California) and we had like a coat in our closet. We weren't used to that at all. But it galvanizes people. Kind of like when you talk to our players, the most fun game, other than the score, that we played in the last two years was in Buffalo that Saturday night on a short week last year. So it's about the team part. It's about doing something that is inherently difficult. I think that motivates you as a competitor. And we have a lot of competitors on our team.”

According to ESPN, there has never been a game at Arrowhead Stadium that has reached negative temperatures. The temperature at the start of the wild card matchup is -2 degrees, according to the Weather Channel.
