UNCASVILLE, Conn. – The Connecticut Sun, one of the WNBA's top teams at 9-1, had little trouble dealing with Caitlin Clark and the 3-9 Indiana Fever during the first half at Mohegan Sun Arena.
The Sun took a commanding 55-35 lead into halftime, but the most notable moment during the first half came when Sun guard DiJonai Carrington fouled Clark shortly after Clark received an incoming pass from her teammate. Team Kristy Wallace.

Clark, coming off a screen, caught the pass and drove to the basket. Carrington was late to Clark thanks to Aliyah Boston's screen and collided with Clark.
But Carrington didn't like the call and thought Clark exaggerated the foul. After the whistle, Carrington began taunting Clark. Boos came from the crowd as Carrington made the gesture. Not surprisingly, there is a very large contingent of the crowd inside Mohegan Sun Arena to see Clark.

It's hard to hear on TV, but it was clear from inside the arena that a large portion of the crowd didn't mind Carrington mocking Clark, particularly since he clearly fouled the Fever rookie.
Curiously, the replay in the arena showed the foul, but the replay team decided to cut the video instead of showing Carrington's mocking gesture.
COACH OF THE SUN THANKS THE 'SUPERSTAR INFLUENCE' OF CAITLIN CLARK AND OTHER ROOKIES FOR THE GROWTH OF THE WNBA
Several people pointed out on social media that Carrington botched early in the game, although Clark did not mock her for it nor was video of the incident released.
That said, Carrington certainly held her own defensively against Clark, including a strip by the Fever guard that led to a layup before the end of the first half.
