Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor from Barcelona, temporarily registered

Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor have obtained temporary playing registrations while Spain's highest sports body continues to analyze Barcelona's case against LaLiga and the Spanish Football Federation [RFEF].

The Higher Sports Council [CSD] has ruled that both Olmo and Víctor should be available for selection until there is a final ruling in the case. Neither player was in the squad for Barcelona's 2-0 victory over Athletic Club in the Spanish Super Cup on Wednesday.

LaLiga said in a statement that it did not agree with the CSD's decision and added that it was considering appealing.

“The content of the resolution will be carefully studied to be able to present the corresponding appeals, without prejudice to expressing absolute disagreement with it,” he stated.

After winning the Super Cup, coach Hansi Flick said it was a great relief for his team heading into the match.

“I'm very happy for these two guys, but I'm also happy for the whole team,” Flick said. “After the information you can see what happens on the bus, it was good. I think the entire club is very happy for this decision, for this correct decision.

“[Olmo and Victor] They are happy. Not only am I happy, they are too. “It was a good sign for us before the game because everyone wants to show that we are a team and we also won for them.”

Olmo and Víctor were released from LaLiga on December 31 after Barça missed a deadline to demonstrate that they complied with the league's financial fair play. [FFP] norms.

LaLiga finally confirmed that Barça had demonstrated that it was capable of meeting certain FFP requirements on January 3 and had therefore extended its “spending limit”.

However, in a joint statement with the RFEF, LaLiga added that players who have had their registration canceled will not be able to re-register with a club for a second time in the same season.

Barça appealed that decision to the CSD, arguing against the interpretation of the rule, and presented a 52-page report to the court this Tuesday with its reasoning.

The CSD's final decision could take up to three months, although sources do not expect it to take that long, but in the meantime the court has ruled that both Olmo and Víctor can play for Barça, although it arrived too late for them to participate in the Super Cup semi-final. of Spain on Wednesday. They will be available to play in Sunday's final against Real Madrid or Mallorca.

Both joined Barca permanently last summer but were only temporarily registered through a rule that allows clubs to allocate up to 80% of the salary owed by an injured player, in this case Andreas Christensen, to replacements.
