Country singer Cody Johnson made a splash with his rendition of the national anthem at the MLB All-Star Game in Texas on Tuesday night, just a day after singer-songwriter Ingrid Andress went viral for her painful performance, which she later admitted she performed while “drunk.”
Johnson, 37, was greeted by the crowd at Globe Life Field in Arlington just a day after fans and players were stunned by A cappella version by Andress from the “Flag of the United States”.
The Texas native did not disappoint, however, and removed his white cowboy hat before delivering a flawless performance.

The crowd applauded and probably breathed a sigh of relief after Monday's events at the MLB Home Run Derby.
Fans online praised Johnson for his “refreshing” performance.
“This is how the national anthem is sung,” wrote one user on X. “My ears have healed,” wrote another.
INGRID ANDRESS ADMITS SHE WAS 'DRUNK' DURING MLB HOME RUN DERBY NATIONAL ANTHEM PERFORMANCE AND ENTERS REHABILITATION
The reaction Johnson received online was completely different than the one Andress received after her performance. Fans speculated that she was not herself, something she later confirmed with a statement.
“I'm not gonna lie…guys, I was drunk last night,” she said in a social media post on Tuesday.
“I'm going to check into a facility today to get the help I need. I wasn't like that last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans and this country that I love so much for that performance. I'll tell you what rehab is like. I hear it's a lot of fun.”

Johnson's big night at the All-Star Game followed his performance over the weekend at the Windy City Smokeout Festival in Chicago, where he paused his set to condemn the attempted assassination of former President Trump.
“The fact that any American citizen thinks that what he did today would solve a problem in this country is absolutely disgusting. You want to solve a problem in this country? On Election Day, go out and vote for whoever you want,” he said.
“I'm tired of hate. I'm tired of division. I'm tired of people talking about Trump and [Joe] Biden. Let me tell you something, there are people in this crowd who agree with Trump. There are people in this crowd who agree with Biden. Guess what? That's the God-given right of Americans to believe whatever they want. That right was purchased with sacrifice.”
