Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun score as Team USA defeats Bolivia in Copa América opener

The United States men's national soccer team took care of its first Copa America opponent on Sunday night with a 2-0 victory over Bolivia at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun found the back of the net as Team USA dominated Bolivia for 90 minutes on the field.

The United States were looking to make a statement in this Copa América, and the goal was to take an early lead against Bolivia, a team they were expected to defeat on Sunday night.

Pulisic, the USMNT veteran, was the one who made it happen just over two minutes after the Stars and Stripes earned a corner kick.

Instead of sending a cross into the box, Pulisic made a short pass to Timothy Weah, who began walking towards the net. He dropped it to the right of him for Pulisic, who decided to fire his first shot of the tournament into the net, and it couldn't have been better.

Trying to bend it from right to left, Pulisic got the ball to the perfect height as he watched it sail over the Bolivia goalkeeper and into the right side of the net.

The American crowd was rowdy as Pulisic celebrated his 30th career international goal with his teammates.

The first half was slow from there, but things picked up again late on when Pulisic received a through ball and ran quickly with 22-year-old Folarin Balogun to his left. Pulisic dropped a pass to Balogun, who was trying to work his Bolivian defender one-on-one.

After taking a step to his left, Balogun shot low, passed between the defender's legs and beat the goalkeeper, who was unable to stretch far enough to make the save.

Balogun's goal in the 44th minute was the fourth of his international career, and it was all the offense the United States needed to take the victory.

There were multiple opportunities in the second half to add more, especially when substitute Ricardo Pepi had two chances near the goal line, but the Bolivian goalkeeper made two incredible saves to keep the score intact.

But the United States were all smiles when the final whistle blew, knowing they got the job done and earned the first three points of the tournament.
