Chelsea's Noni Madueke praises his relationship with Cole Palmer

Chelsea striker Noni Madueke praised teammate Cole Palmer after their 6-2 win over Wolves on Sunday.

Madueke scored a second-half hat-trick and Palmer provided the assist for all three of their goals at Molineux as Chelsea got their season underway.

“He's cold and I'm fire, so we get along well. He always has the ability to make the right pass at the right time, so it's great,” Madueke told Premier League Productions.

“Today means a lot. You just have to be smart and wait for the right moment. The system allows us to investigate and investigate and investigate and keep possession high.” [the pitch].

“Maybe in the first half it was a bit more back and forth, but in the second we gained control. [goal] I was a bit lucky, the second was just from Cole Palmer, two brilliant, well thought out passes that I had to step on to score.

“I'm happy with the hat-trick, but even happier to have won the match.”

The 22-year-old also praised new coach Enzo Maresca.

“I think it's obvious. Everyone saw what he did at Leicester last year. [getting promoted]He is crazy about his approach, about the little details.

“I think you can see that even in the first game against City there were some good patterns of play that we probably didn't quite get right, but today we were on target. It's a great day for him. I'm happy he's got his first Premier League win with Chelsea.”

Palmer also scored a goal of his own to put Chelsea 2-1 ahead just before half-time, before Wolves equalised moments later.

The second half, however, was the Madueke and Palmer show.

Palmer was named PFA Young Player of the Year earlier this month following a successful debut season at Stamford Bridge, where he contributed 27 goals and 15 assists in all competitions following a £40 million (US$52 million) move from Manchester City last August.

Seeing two of his star players play so well will have pleased Maresca after an eventful start to his tenure, with questions over the club's transfer activity and a 2-0 defeat to City in their opening Premier League game of the season.

Chelsea's new signing Joao Felix also scored in the win over Wolves to begin his second spell at the club.

Felix joined Chelsea on a seven-year contract from Atletico Madrid after spending six months on loan at the London club last season.
