Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Conor Gallagher for a fee worth around 40 million euros ($44 million), sources have told ESPN.
Sources have also confirmed to ESPN that Atletico striker Samu Omorodion will move to Stamford Bridge in a separate deal for an initial fee of €33m plus €7m in variables.
Atlético had already reached an agreement with Chelsea last week for the arrival of Gallagher, but were waiting for the midfielder to agree to the transfer.
Atlético considered signing Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra if Gallagher backed out.
Omorodion's signing for Chelsea comes in the same week that Atlético announced the signing of striker Alexander Sorloth from Villarreal and reached an agreement with Manchester City over the transfer of Julián Álvarez.
Atletico had rejected Chelsea's initial approaches for Omorodion.
They lost Spanish captain Alvaro Morata, who joined AC Milan from Atletico, and Dutch striker Memphis Depay, who left the team. Red and white after his contract expired in June.
Omorodion, 20, impressed while playing on loan at Deportivo Alavés from Atlético last season.
Atlético coach Diego Simeone and Omorodion believe that next season is key to the development of the Spanish under-21 player.
However, Atlético, in need of players who could perform immediately and at the same time have the cash to complete the transfer of Álvarez, agreed to include Omorodion on the transfer list.
Both Simeone and Omorodion considered Chelsea the best option for the player to continue his career.
Atlético will benefit from the transfer of Omorodion. The 20-year-old joined the team Red and white 13 months ago from Granada FC after paying his 6 million euro release clause.
With the signings of Gallagher and Omorodion confirmed, Atlético hope to announce the signing of Álvarez.
Gallagher arrived in Madrid on Wednesday evening to complete his move.
A source close to Simeone says the coach is delighted with the efforts made by the club in this transfer window.
Atlético also signed Spanish defender Robin Le Normand from Real Sociedad this summer.
