NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Charleston Southern has promoted interim men's basketball coach Saah Nimley to the permanent position moving forward.
Buccaneers athletic director Jeff Barber announced the full-time hiring of Nimley on Monday.
Nimley, a former Charleston Southern player, joined the coaching staff in 2019 and was named interim head coach in November after leader Barclay Redenbaugh resigned following a 2-5 start.
The Buccaneers finished 10-19 overall. Barber said Nimley was a great fit for the Big South Conference program.
Charleston Southern will face second-seeded UNC Asheville in the conference tournament quarterfinals on Friday.
Nimley played at Charleston Southern from 2011 to 2015 and left as the school's all-time career assists leader with 511. He was the Big South Player of the Year as a senior and ranked fourth nationally, scoring 21, 5 points per game.
