The two tennis stars then traded games in the final set. But once Alcaraz took a 3-2 lead, there was no turning back. Zverev's frustrations began to show as he argued at length with the chair umpire. And after Alcaraz's backhand hit the net and rebounded, all Zverev could do was watch in amazement.

Alcaraz achieved victory after reaching the semifinals last year. He has improved every year since making his tournament debut in 2020. He needed a five-set victory over Jannik Sinner to reach the final after overcoming Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals.
Zverev beat Casper Ruud in the semifinals to reach Alcaraz. He potentially would have faced Novak Djokovic, but the Serbian star tore his meniscus and was forced to withdraw from the tournament last week.
Zverev still misses a Grand Slam title. But this time the French Open final was the best tournament result in his career.
