Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark might owe her teammates a nice gift or dinner after they seemingly managed to prevent her from receiving a crucial technical foul on Sunday against the Dallas Wings.

A video posted on social media showed Clark walking back down the pitch after losing the ball. He looked up to watch the replay and then began swearing at the referee.

Kelsey Mitchell extended her arm to stop Clark from walking toward the referee while Aliyah Boston had to push Clark away and yell “No” in his face to prevent him from receiving the technical foul.

Another technical foul would have been Clark's seventh of the season, leading to an automatic suspension and keeping her out of the team's final game of the regular season against the Washington Mystics.

“I didn't think I was going to get a technical foul at any point tonight. I would have been really sad for the people in Washington, D.C.,” Clark said, via the Indy Star. “I didn't want to do that. I did the best I could, but my teammates did a really good job of that.”

Phoenix Mercury players Diana Taurasi and Natasha Cloud and the Wings' Teaira McCowan are the only players to have seven technical fouls this season. If Clark receives her seventh technical foul, she will not be suspended for the eventual postseason matchup, against whomever the Fever play.

Fever head coach Christie Sides attributed the “good team chemistry” to how Boston and Mitchell kept Clark from receiving the technical foul.
