Bucks' Patrick Beverley talks about his violent pass into the stands: 'It should have never happened'

Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley came under fire for violently throwing a basketball at fans during the team's Game 6 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night.

Beverley was sitting on the bench when he stood up and threw a basketball at a Pacers fan sitting behind the team bench, hitting her in the head.

He appeared to make a gesture to retrieve the ball, and when it was returned to him, he again threw the ball to another fan, who was able to deflect it.

Coaches and other players intervened in an attempt to calm the situation, but Beverly appeared to continue exchanging words with fans sitting behind him.

Less than a week later, Beverley says it was an “unfortunate situation that should never have happened.”

“What I did was bad and that should have never happened. I have to be better and I will be better. And that should have never happened,” Beverly said. on his podcast. “Regardless of what was said, that should never have happened. It's that simple.”

Initial reports say it came after a fan said “Cancun at three,” but Beverley says it was “more than that” and that he was called a name that's apparently NSFW.

“I've been called a lot of things in this league, but I've never been called that,” he said. “It's still unforgivable. It doesn't matter what was said. I have to be better and I will be better.”
