Brazil between rivals of Mexico in friendlies for tour of five cities in the United States

The Mexico men's national team will play five friendlies in the United States by 2024, including a high-profile showdown against Brazil at Texas A&M University's Kyle Field in College Station, Texas.

Revealed as this year's “MexTour” list of friendlies that have been held in the United States for more than two decades, the full slate of games for 2024 includes clashes with Bolivia (May 31 at Chicago's Soldier Field), Uruguay (June 5 at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver), Brazil (June 8 at Texas A&M), New Zealand (September 7 at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California) and Canada (September 10 at the AT&T in Arlington, Texas).

“We are delighted to return with the MexTour to Chicago, Denver, Pasadena and Arlington, where fans, year after year, have embraced the Mexican National Team with remarkable passion,” said Camilo Durana, executive vice president of marketing for Soccer United, in a press release.

“This year, in conjunction with Lone Star Sports & Entertainment and the Houston Dynamo FC, we welcome the opportunity to host soccer for the first time at the renovated, historic 102,000-seat Kyle Field at Texas A&M University, in a game against the Brazilian National Team and its roster of world stars. The match will be a celebration of soccer for the entire state.”

At Kyle Field, Mexico will attempt to break its own MexTour attendance record of 90,526, which was set in a 2010 friendly against New Zealand at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

The friendlies against Bolivia, Uruguay and Brazil will serve as preparation for the national team for the Copa América in the summer of 2024, which will also be held in the United States.

Starting June 20, Mexico will begin the Copa América with group stage matches against Ecuador, Venezuela and Jamaica.
