Both teams had already secured a place in the Champions League for next season and were instead focused on sealing third place in the standings behind AC Milan and champions Inter Milan.

Juve got off to a nightmare start with Bologna leading by two points after 11 minutes, first with Riccardo Calafiori scoring a rebound after 90 seconds, followed by Santiago Castro heading in the second goal.

Moments later, Bologna thought they had secured a third goal when Jens Odgaard slotted the ball in, only for the offside flag to be raised.

Nicolo Fagioli shakes hands with interim Juventus coach Paolo Montero during the team's match against Bologna.

Juventus' misery was compounded eight minutes into the second half when Calafiori scored his second goal, running into the box and passing the ball over Juve goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Juve seemed to have hit rock bottom after a tumultuous few days. After winning the Italian Cup, the club fired Allegri on Friday for misconduct during the final and appointed Paolo Montero as interim coach.

Federico Chiesa started Juventus' comeback with a goal in the 76th minute, followed by a free kick from Arkadiusz Milik in the 83rd minute.

A minute later, substitute Kenan Yildiz sealed the tie with a long-range shot from outside the box that found the bottom corner.

“In my opinion, a draw is the fair result,” Montero told DAZN. “Wednesday's victory [Italian Cup final] It was important, mentally it exhausted them a bit and coming here against one of the best teams at the moment like Bologna, you are going to have difficulties.

“After that drop in mentality, they defended themselves with pride and showed how much they care about the jersey.”

Hellas Verona secured their place in Serie A next season with a 2-1 victory over already relegated Salernitana. The result took them to 13th place with 37 points, four points ahead of Empoli who are in 18th place.
