Bill Muckalt signs an agreement at 5 years to train Michigan Tech Hockey


Houghton, Mich.-Michigan Tech has hired Bill Muckalk to lead his three-time university hockey program of the National Championship.

The school announced that it signed Meckalt with a five -year contract on Thursday, bringing back a former assistant coach who led Lindenwood last season. He led the University based in Missouri to win about Notre Dame and Wisconsin in his third season of Hockey of Division I.

Meckalt was the 2017-23 associated chief coach in Michigan, where he was twice a national champion as a striker before a five-year race in the NHL. He was an assistant coach at Michigan Tech of 2011-15.

The Huskies won national titles in 1962, 1965 and 1975.

“This is a great community of hockey and world class university,” said Meckalt.

Meckalt replaces Joe Shawhan, who was 154-120-29 for eight seasons.
