The first year student of Rutgers, the Bailey, the selection of No. 3 projected, will declare for the NBA Draft of 2025 and will sign with Omar Cooper of the lifestyle sports agency, he told ESPN on Wednesday.
“I want to thank everyone in Rutgers,” Bailey said. “The community for supporting and traveling throughout the country to see us. My teammates, coaches and support personnel. Donors. The strength and conditioning coach, nutritionists, managers and also the security guards, Rob and Julio, for keeping us safe. Everyone pushed me to improve every day, to be the best version of myself. I am grateful for everything they did for me. I felt very loving for me.
“I loved being in college and playing university basketball. The students section, songs, blackout games, victories and losses. Everything.”
Bailey was named for the Big Ten All-Freshman team and was the third All-Big Ten team after averaging 17.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.3 blockages per game. Enter the draft after matching the first year guard Dylan Harper, the selection of No. 2 projected, to lead a scar Knights team that did not have much talent beyond the Star duo and ended 15-17.
“I did well,” Bailey said. “I could have done it much better, but I matured this season. The game slowed to me. My intellectual coefficient became taller. I got faster and much stronger. My ball control and shots tightened. Rutgers made me protect everyone, from points of points to advance. I learned a lot.”
At 6 feet 10 inches, Bailey has an exceptional shortage skill. He hit 47 triples in 30 games and exploded three times for more than 30 points in the Big Ten game. It is one of the youngest perspectives in this draft, which does not meet 19 until August, and brings insatiable aggressiveness and high -level defensive intensity to complement its excellent scoring instincts.
“I'm not close to reaching my potential,” Bailey said. “I'm still young, I'm still learning, but I'm working every day. My game is improving. NBA teams will put an energetic player ready to speak, lead and put people in the right positions. I can take a good team to a better level.”
Bailey is currently in Atlanta, preparing for the predaoft process. He said he sees NBA games every night and closely studies Kevin Durant, Jayson Tatum and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
The NBA Draft Combine will take place from May 11 to 18 in Chicago, and the Draft will be from June 25 to 26 in New York.
