Liverpool chief coach Arne Slot revealed that his predecessor Jürgen Klopp approached to congratulate him after his team won the Premier League title on Sunday.
The Slot team beat Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 to ensure title 20 of the Club League in Anfield.
The Dutchman has described Sunday as “one of the best days of [his] Life, “with Klopp, who won the Premier League with Liverpool in 2019-20, among people to send a message after the game.
“Many messages and there are nine times the same, but they come for a good heart,” Slot said on Friday.
“I have tried to answer them all. It has been incredible. Especially on Sunday, especially for Liverpool fans, it was probably one of the best days of their lives and it was the same for me. Seeing how much it meant for fans and players was really special to be part.
“The most famous person who sent me a message? I guess it was Jürgen! What did he say? Congratulations, now I know what special club is, I am part of the story, this kind of thing, I was very happy for fans and the club.”
Slot added: “I think that the main advantage of winning the league is that until now, if I talked to new players that we wanted to bring, I always told them that our fans are really special, that it is special to play in this club. I think it was perhaps not necessary to tell them in the past, but after Sunday, I do not think I never have to tell anyone again the special ones that our fans are because that was not unwavering.
“Not only for how much emotion there was, but they did not enter the field. The number of times I see teams winning the league and there is a launch invasion, but they all stayed in the stands, which was incredible. So winning the league, having these fans, I think this is a great attraction for each player we want to bring.”
Liverpool will play his first game as Premier League champions when they face Chelsea on Sunday. Looking towards the rest of the season, Slot said: “It is good that we play some very strong teams with Chelsea, Arsenal and Crystal Palace, so that gives a challenge immediately to those games.
“It is the end of the season, but we also have to look at this at the beginning of the next season. It's already Chelsea Away. We play them before in the season and I am completely surprised by the gap we have at this time because at that time we had to suffer more than any other game.”
