Chicago Sky star Angel Reese had a big rookie moment in Saturday night's loss to the Connecticut Sun, which resulted in the ejection of a WNBA veteran.
The Sun's Alyssa Thomas was prematurely ejected from the court after a fight for a rebound resulted in her hitting Reese in the third quarter of Connecticut's 86-82 victory.
Thomas wrapped his arm and hand around Reese's neck as they fought for the rebound, and Reese hit the deck quite hard.

When the referees reviewed the decision, they found that Thomas committed a Flagrant Foul 2, the first of his career, and it resulted in an automatic ejection.
After the game, Reese, who finished with 13 points, five rebounds and two assists over 33 minutes on the court, didn't care what happened to Thomas.
Before beginning her WNBA career, she said she wanted to be “knocked down” and learn from adversity. She may not have meant it literally, but that's exactly how she saw the situation.

“It's not just because I'm a rookie. I'm a player. I'm a basketball player. They don't give a damn if I'm a rookie,” Reese said of the incident, according to The Athletic. “I mean, I want them to come to me every day. I want them to come to everyone.”
Reese isn't looking for special treatment because she's a rookie. If anything, she wants the pressure, the physicality and the aggression of the opponents because, as she said, she is a basketball player who tries to win like everyone else.
“They're not supposed to be nice to me,” Reese continued. “I hope you all know that. You're not supposed to be nice to me or sit still because I'm Angel Reese or because I'm a rookie. Like, thank you, AT, for texting me because I got up again and kept going and kept pushing. Like AT and I have been great since we were in Maryland, so I know there are no hard feelings. I appreciate him standing up to me today or every day.”
As Reese mentioned, she and Thomas go back to their days in College Park, Maryland, playing for the Terrapins. Before the sky faced the sun, she said that she admired Thomas.
“I know she probably didn't do it on purpose with me, but just being able to go out there and be strong and stand on two feet, it was going to be a tough game, and that's what I'm made for.”
