Bournemouth's manager, Andoni Iraola, said he is happy on the side of the southern coast and hopes to make history in the club while pursuing their first important trophy, amid speculation that link Spanish with a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.
With Spurs languishing the 14th position in the Premier League after 29 games and withdrawing from the FA Cup and the Cup Capao under the chief Ange Postecoglou, Iraola has been promoted as a possible option for the side of northern London if they separate from the Australians.
The Europa League is the only hope of the Spurs to win covered this season in what would be the first trophy of the club since he won the Cuabao Cup in 2008.
Iraola, 43, who joined Bournemouth in June 2023, has helped the club reach the quarterfinals of the FA Cup, where they will receive Manchester City on Sunday. His team is also looking to qualify for European football for the first time and is five points in fourth place in the 10th place.
When asked if you can achieve all your management goals in Bournemouth, Iraola told journalists on Friday: “I want to do my job as best I can. I don't know how far we can get, where we will end. I want to do my job as best I can.
“If I do not do the job very well, you will find someone else. I am very happy here. We have a great opportunity to make history and it would be incredible for me personally, for the club to reach new heights, but we know that we have to be realistic.
“There are better teams than us and we have to fight teams that are very good. We will try to give the best level we have.”
Iraola was also asked about the center of the 19 -year -old center from Huijsen, whose impressive first season at Bournemouth has generated interest in Real Madrid, a source told ESPN.
Huijsen, born Dutch, made his international debut for Spain against the Netherlands in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Nations League on March 20.
“We are not surprised [with the transfer talk]Probably because he has now made his debut in the national team, he has played well, they are probably talking more about him, “Iraola said.
“He has been playing constantly and I think he has had a very good performance. He has faced very difficult strikers, but we already knew he was a very good player when he came in summer.”
