New AC Milan manager Paulo Fonseca has secured his first Serie A win in style, and it couldn't have come at a better time for the team. Rossoneri as they kicked off their season against Venice.

A devastating first half hour set Milan on course for a convincing 4-0 victory over the promoted side on Saturday to claim their first win of the season after two draws and a defeat.

The result and the manner of the win are a timely boost of confidence ahead of a crucial week. Fonseca's side host Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday and then face a Serie A derby against reigning champions Inter Milan.

Rafael Leão and Theo Hernández were both on the bench for Milan's last game but returned to the starting lineup and the pair combined to score the opening goal after just 90 seconds.

Hernández won the ball back in midfield and passed it to Leao, who returned it with a delicious backheel on the turn. The French international broke down the left and fired just wide of the near post, beating Jesse Joronen.

Milan doubled their lead in the 16th minute when Youssouf Fofana headed in Christian Pulisic's corner and the US international scored in the 25th minute by converting a penalty after Joronen brought down Tammy Abraham.

Less than three minutes later, Milan were awarded another penalty after the video assistant referee spotted Venezia defender Joel Schingtienne standing on Leao's foot.

Abraham stepped up and scored his first goal for Milan since joining from Roma last month.

It is the first time Milan have scored four times in the first half hour of a Serie A match since 1958.

Francesco Zampano thought he had pulled one back for Venezia but the goal was disallowed and Venezia midfielder Hans Nicolussi Caviglia was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Ruben Loftus-Cheek and sent off.
