American tennis star Danielle Collins has criticised her opponent, Iga Swiatek, after their intense quarter-final match at the Paris Olympics on Wednesday.
Collins retired from the match after a close battle. Swiatek was leading 6-2, 1-6, 4-1 when Collins needed a medical timeout for an abdominal muscle injury. After the match, Collins said she accused Swiatek of being “fake” about her injury.

“There's a lot of stuff going on in front of the cameras. And there are a lot of people with a lot of charisma… (who) are one way in front of the cameras and another way in the locker room,” Collins said after the game. “I don't need any fakery.”
Collins, who will retire after the 2024 season, also criticised Olympic organisers for not having insulated water bottles for the high heat in Paris.
“I almost collapsed when I came off the court and was on the medical table for three hours,” Collins said. “That really hurt. When you have cramps all over your body, from your toes to your neck, and when you've had heat stroke, it's very, very difficult to get out here.”

Collins and Swiatek had a heated conversation after the match. When asked about it, Swiatek told reporters to ask the American star.
Swiatek felt the effects of the heat.
He had a hard time avoiding a shot from Collins.
“I couldn't breathe for a moment. It hurt a little bit,” Swiatek said. “But with the adrenaline you have on the court, you don't feel it as much as you should.”
She stood up and continued.
