Al Hilal have signed Manchester City defender João Cancelo on a permanent transfer, the club confirmed on Tuesday.
The Saudi Pro League side turned their attention to Cancelo after being informed that fellow City defender Kyle Walker was unavailable.
Cancelo joins Al Hilal on a deal worth an initial £21 million (USD 28 million), with the 30-year-old set to earn £15 million per year, a source told ESPN.
“I had many very special moments during my time here at [Man City]”, Cancelo said.
“I would like to thank my team-mates, the coaches, all the staff at City and the fans for everything during my time here.”
The Portuguese international has not played for City for 18 months and has been on loan at Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
Cancelo leaves City after making more than 150 appearances for the club and winning the Premier League title three times.
