To the editor: I am a lifelong registered Democrat, based solely on most of the important positions taken by the party. I have no sympathy for anyone, Democrat or Republican, who breaks the law. In the legal cases facing former President Trump, he should have to pay the penalty, if convicted, to the full extent of the law, including prison time for criminal cases.
As for the New York civil trial, I agree with the conclusion that Trump was responsible for lying about the value of his real estate assets to obtain preferential loan rates from various banks. But I don't agree with the judge's order that he pay a $355 million fine.
Who were the victims of Trump's fraud?

To the editor: I am disturbed that Trump supporters claim there were no victims in his efforts to defraud financial institutions.
