To the editor: His editorial on Metro traffic enforcement noted that there is a “death spiral” that Metro faces if it “cannot increase ridership.”
Ridership dipped at the start of the pandemic but has been steadily increasing for a couple of years. Metro’s most recent numbers show nearly a million daily riders in April and May — both months were COVID-era ridership records.
As The Times notes, there are safety issues that Metro has been addressing. But, at least for now, a fatalistic spiral of passengers is not in sight.
