To the editor: Seeing the photos and reading the stories of Texas, our hearts are crushed by the pain of parents, spouses and the children of those left behind (“At least 43 people killed in Texas floods; 27 summer children who disappear,” July 5).
We should resist reflecting on what our president would say if this had happened in California instead of Texas. That way is madness.
I have no idea what are the political and social views of people with a broken heart behind, but should not make any difference. It made no difference in floods and should not make any difference. They are our compatriots, and they need and deserve our support, financially, social and in any conversation, we could hear that it sounds the opposite.
We must all pray, in our own way, for the day we can work together again to try to solve the problems of our nation.

To the editor: The Secretary of National Security of the United States, Kristi Noem, said the Trump administration would make a priority to improve the technology of the National Meteorological Service used to deliver warnings. Someone should tell him that, as the personnel writer, Hayley Smith points out, “the Trump administration plans to reduce thousands of employees next year, approximately 17% of their workforce, and cuts the NOAA budget in more than $ 1.5 billion, according to the request for a tax budget of 2026” ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((“Texas flood highlights the deadly climate risk of extreme weather.” July 6).
