To the editor: Mustafa Barghouti, a West Bank physician and politician, appears moderate in his interview. He speaks of Palestinian rights and the Israeli apartheid system (“Palestinian leader sees new energy in U.S. — particularly among young Americans — to confront Middle East crisis,” August 6).
But in response to the last question, he could not give a resounding condemnation of Hamas and its October 7 attack on Israel: “It was a tragedy that so many Israelis died.” [on Oct. 7]But the real tragedy is that they have Netanyahu as their leader.”
Really? You can't condemn Hamas, a terrorist organization? Are you a moderate? No wonder the Palestinians have no effective leadership.
