Readers comment on “how horrible it is to leave LAX”

To the editor: I have traveled through the Los Angeles airport since the 1960s. Because I live close enough to the airport, I have always had someone to drop me off and pick me up. (“Flown All Over The World. LAX Is ‘The Worst Airport To Fly Into,’” Hear Me Out, Sept. 6).

I didn't really understand ground transportation until a recent trip where I had to find my own way home.

In my attempt to find transportation, I encountered every obstacle imaginable: walking, interpreting signs, asking for help, waiting… In the end, it took me about two hours to get out of the airport. For someone who doesn't speak English, the difficulties could be insurmountable. Perhaps Los Angeles airport should add overnight accommodations for those seeking ground transportation.

I can't wait for the passenger transportation system to open. I hope it simplifies the ordeal of leaving LAX airport.

To the editor: My husband and I use LAX airport frequently. We have taken the shuttle to LAX-it, the ride-sharing area outside the airport, only once.

We arrived at Terminal 7 and had to wait while three fully-packed buses drove by. When one finally stopped, there was barely room for us and our suitcase.

At this point, we wondered about possible alternatives. There is one: the most expensive travel options can be picked up at the terminals. I checked and the price to our house in the middle of the afternoon is $234.

As always, it seems that the rich are lucky.
