Readers ask the United States to help hungry gazanes

To the editor: It is agonizing to witness massive malnutrition and hunger in Gaza, and the fact that our own government is allowing this horror to embarrass our country (“Israel is pushing Gaza to the starvation, the global aid groups say,” they say, “ July 24). More than 165 main international beneficial organizations have asked for an end to the Humanitarian Foundation of Gaza. The group, backed by Israel and the United States, requires that hungry people travel long distances to help the centers where there are almost daily reports of mortal shootings by Israeli forces. Since the beginning of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, at least 1,000 Gazans have been killed while trying to obtain food, according to the last numbers of the UN Human Rights Office. Israel blames Hamas for this parody, but in fact, it is Israel who could cancel his forces immediately.

The United States must press Israel to finish the blockade, reject the militarization of aid distribution and demand a high immediate fire.

To the editor: Why are our US dollars used to contribute to malnutrition and deaths of civilians and children in Gaza? It is not correct and needs to end. We can help Israel more helping to finish this suffering now.

We need to be better than this.

To the editor: Small babies and young children with hunger. The photos are heartbreaking. With all food and food waste in this world, there should be no excuse for this. Perhaps the excuse is politics, the gift it continues to give.
