To the editor: I met two important people in my life. KW Lee is one (“KW Lee, known as the” Spicy of American Asian journalism, “Dies”, March 15). Since he met him in the late 1970s, his greatest presence that life affected me deeply. It was at the same time a mentor, an associate, a partner and a friend. He wore the part of those who loved and worked every day to help victims and affected, oppressed, of all races and colors. He lived to investigate, and expose, injustice throughout society and government. He literally saved a man's life. In my opinion, KW was the most unknown giant in journalism.
A complex man, the world was his family and taught many. And with his bustling behavior, obscene language and sense of humor, he was loved by all. His knowledge of history and culture was not the same. He knew both the KW public and on his private side. I will always miss it.

To the editor: I had never heard of this American Korean journalist pioneer, but I was very impressed by the obituary you wrote about him. At this time in history, when objective journalism itself is being threatened, we need more KW reads!
He was a true human rights defender who used journalism for the helpless, and who, as you wrote, “emphasized and understood other people who did not have access to power or means.”
