Letters to the editor: If AI will replace human workers, where will payroll taxes come from?

To the editor: Salesforce has eliminated 4,000 jobs due to artificial intelligence (“The Salesforce CEO, Marc Benioff, says he reduced 4,000 support roles due to AI.” September 2). This means 4,000 less roles that would have employees who pay payroll taxes to support Social Security and Medicare. The government should create legislation that makes the AI ”workers” pay in these social programs; In other words, the corporations responsible for AI compose the difference.

These technological companies would still be earning a lot of money. If AI's “workers” will replace us, why should they avoid paying taxes on the value they bring to their employers?
