To the editor: As a doctor who has spent the last 40 years saving countless lives, I abhor guns and the harm they have caused to society. I was horrified to hear Vice President Kamala Harris laugh as she talked about shooting an intruder during her campaign event with Oprah Winfrey.
I cannot in good conscience vote for someone who can laugh at taking a life, and at the same time I will not vote for his Republican opponent, a convicted felon and a pathological liar.
We, the American people, deserve better, but given the deep divisions we have in the country today, I am not hopeful for the near future. I will be voting for Green Party candidate Jill Stein in protest.

To the editor: Harris should attend the debate she agreed to on CNN.
She should stand behind the podium, and when it becomes clear that former President Trump is nowhere to be found in the building, she should pull up a comfortable chair and sit with the moderators and conduct a one-on-one interview.
Take advantage of the opportunity. Answer all the questions in detail, without distractions or sarcastic comments, and be completely honest. The audience will be huge.
Trump would no doubt schedule a competing rally across town at the same time, but that would only demonstrate his cowardice in refusing to debate Harris.
