To the editor: As a Times subscriber for decades, I'm used to the far-left op-eds it publishes. However, Mark Barabak's column, “Trump wins and it's a dark night for America's soul,” goes too far.
This is the first time in three election cycles that I actually voted for President-elect Trump, because I feared a Kamala Harris presidency more than his.
The left only has President Biden to blame. Had he stayed the course and governed like the one-term president he strongly suggested he would be, Democrats likely would have found a better candidate to run against Trump. Instead of praising Biden for choosing to “pass the torch” when he did, we should blame him and his party for leaving us with Hobson's choice between Harris and Trump.
That said, the people have spoken and Trump is our president again.

To the editor: The Times editorial board states in its post-election article: “His victory has us debating the question of how two such starkly different visions of America coexist.”
This quote sums up the problem so many people in America have with most of the mainstream media. The Times still doesn't get it, and as long as it continues to have only liberal members on its editorial board, it never will.

To the editor: My very young Irish parents were on a movie date in England the day after the Japanese army attacked Pearl Harbor. Halfway through the movie it stopped abruptly and the director of the movie announced that the United States was entering the war.
The crowd stood and cheered, not because of the attack, but because with Adolf Hitler's forces at England's doorstep, they desperately needed American support.
When my parents moved to California after the war, I remember they both told us that America saved Europe. I am glad that you are not here now to realize that Europe and our other allies cannot enjoy that comforting belief today.

To the editor: Now 102 years old and a WWII destroyer sailor, I held my nose and voted for Harris, a really weak candidate.
Calling Trump's victory a retreat to the Middle Ages is ridiculous.
