How does Trump, the 'bumbling megalomaniac', have so much power?

To the editor: A big thank you to Francis Wilkinson for expressing what most sane Americans know and fear: that former President Trump's continued corruption of the Republican Party (even the members who hid under their seats in Congress on January 6, 2021) is a clear and present danger to democracy.

For the life of me, I can't understand why this bumbling megalomaniac wields so much power over so many people. What harm could Trump do to them if they came to their senses?

I pray to God that the majority of Americans outvote the Trumpers at the November polls. A vote for Democrats is the only safety net we have to preserve the freedoms we hold so dear.

To the editor: Wilkinson claims the former president is a master of corruption. But that doesn't explain why he doesn't even the former attorney. General William Barr, who said Trump was incompetent and incapable, would still vote for him.

The answer is simple: Although many Americans don't like Trump, they would never vote for a liberal under any circumstances.

For Democrats to have any chance of winning the election, they must address this problem and find the root cause of this extreme hatred of liberals.

To the editor: Unfortunately, corruption began in the Constitution itself, with the electoral college system.

The 2024 presidential election will be decided by a few thousand independent voters in a few battleground counties in several states. It is this system that allows corrupt individuals to take power.

We need a miracle.

To the editor: While I agree with most of the points raised in Wilkinson's article, and I'm sure they are quite valid, it bothers me a lot to equate Moe, Larry and Curly with the clowns sitting on the Supreme Court or with the leaders of the Party Republican. .

The geniuses that make up the great team of “The Three Stooges” do not deserve to have their names and their legacy dragged through the mud. As a fan of classic comedy, particularly the Stooges, I take great offense at the mere mention of their names alongside the corrupt members of those groups.
