Editor letters: it is necessary to do more to keep the ice agents responsible before the law

To the editor: I read the article on the legislation proposed by Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) to prohibit the application of immigration and customs and other officials responsible for enforcing the law of using masks (“The proposed bill would prohibit ice agents, the police to use masks in California.” June 16). While doing so, Wiener must also expand their legislation to include significant sanctions for officers who violate the law by not telling people why they are being arrested and not providing copies of legal arrest orders, signed by a judge. There are dozens of videos on social networks that document these illegal practices by ICE agents and who accompanies them in these arrests. There must be serious sanctions for the agents of the law (and its contractors) that violate the law in California. No one is above the law, including ice.
