To the editor: Apparently convinced by the impressive but still ambiguous successes of electric vehicles in the United States and the guest collaborator, Mike Murphy, lists several solutions for problems that hinder their great expectations for an imminent future of electric and clean automobile in California (“California can fix Trump's EV error” July 17). But statistics of the Energy Information Administration of the United StatesBased on data collected from 2023 to the second quarter of 2024, it distinguishes between the sales of fully electric and hybrid vehicles in the US. UU., A revealing distinction that can stop the enthusiasm like Murphy's.
Of 18.7% of electric or semi -electric vehicles sold in the US. During the tracked period of time, 7.1% were battery vehicles, but a higher percentage, 9.6%, were hybrid (with only 2% of plug -in hybrids in the mixture). However, it is crucially significant that Bev's market share stagnated largely at 2023 levels, while hybrid sales shot 30.7% year after year.
The involvement for the mid -terminal can indicate a change in consumer behavior far from buying fully electric vehicles of high price at a predominant preference for buying the sensitive hybrid car, which allows fuel efficiency to more than 50 miles to the gallon.
