Democrats must gain power in partial exams to protect renewable energy

To the editor: Despite the entire promise of renewable energy, President Trump has “reduced many federal renewable energy programs, with a renewed emphasis on fossil fuels” (“The UN says that the global inflection point of solar energy, wind and clean energy reached even lower costs.” July 22). This whole situation is analogous to the parable of the good Samaritan.

Remembering the parable, an injured man is ignored by people who are expected to help, but who is a member of what was seen as a humble class.

The injured man in the parable corresponds to the human and economic damage of climate change, which the overwhelming scientific evidence shows that he is progressively worsening. We should expect effective government action, but instead, the problem is being exacerbated by Trump, who is going back to initiatives that fight climate change. The class that tries to help are out of power, who are at a disadvantage as well as the Samaritan in the parable.

With all this power in the hands of such a destructive president and a Republican Sycofantic Congress, it is essential that Democrats obtain control of Congress in partial exams.
