To the editor: Nearly every day, an LA Times letter writer rages against former President Trump, seemingly hoping to weaken his support by exposing even more flaws. Sadly, they aren’t changing the minds of Trump supporters because they aren’t addressing the real problem.
Many, if not most, Trump supporters are like Vice President Kamala Harris's supporters in that they vote not for their candidate, but against the opposition candidate. They are so afraid of progressive policies and concessions from the progressive left that they consider any Republican, even Trump, to be better than a Democrat.
If the letter writers want to help Harris, they should push the vice president to better distinguish her policies from those of the political far left. That way, fringe Republicans can justify a vote for Harris.
