A traveler claimed she argued with a passenger on the plane behind her over reclining her seat.
On February 16, a frustrated TikToker took to social media to ask her followers for advice. As a travel content creator, it's not unusual for Taylor to share the intimate details of her excursions. However, in this case, she was looking for suggestions from people.
Taylor posted a close-up video of her face with an on-screen caption that read, “Y'all this girl just pushed my seat forward and said I can't recline during my 10 hour flight because it's too much.” for her.”
“What should I do?” She continued. “What would you do?”
With around 1.2 million views on TikTok, Taylor received more than 5,000 comments from followers offering heartfelt recommendations.
“Just because you can doesn't mean you should. I wouldn't like someone [did] “Do it to me so you don't do it to them,” one person wrote, while another said, “I've been on a lot of long flights and have never even considered reclining.”
Fellow influencer Madeline White added: “You're all crazy… If I paid for a reclining seat, I'll recline it!!! And if the person behind you also reclines theirs… they have the same amount of space.”
“I don't know what everyone else is talking about. On every long haul flight I've been on, literally EVERYONE reclines. People only sit down when the food arrives,” another person agreed.
Meanwhile, one woman noted: “The chairs barely recline to begin with. I don't see why people get so angry. I’ve never minded when the person in front of me reclines!”
“If someone leans on me I can't open the tray or reach my bag. Flying economy class is hard enough without someone pushing the seat in your face,” confessed one TikTok user.
However, another traveler proclaimed, “I'm 6 feet tall; I buy the seat with the most room because I NEVER assume the person in front of me won't recline (as is their right).”
“I love this,” Taylor responded.
In a follow-up video, Taylor explained the entire situation from her perspective. According to her, when he initially reclined her seat, the girl behind her “pushed” him toward her.
“Her mom said she was uncomfortable, that she was too small for her,” Taylor said. “So, they were like having a seizure.”
Taylor started the situation by saying that she had been flying all day and it was her last flight home. Still, the woman, her boyfriend, and her mother allegedly still complained that no one was reclining her seats.
According to Taylor, the fellow passenger allegedly called the flight attendant. The flight attendant told Taylor that she could recline her seat, but that she needed to raise it for “food service,” to which Taylor responded that “she always did that.” However, the woman behind her allegedly continued to move her seat forward throughout the flight, and Taylor continued to move it back into a reclined position.
