On September 10, Dave Grohl took to social media to admit that he fathered another child “outside of his marriage” with Jordyn Blum.
The 55-year-old rock legend, founder of Foo Fighters, announced the birth of his daughter and confessed that he was trying to regain his family's forgiveness after his infidelity.
“I recently became a father to a new daughter, born out of wedlock,” he wrote on Instagram. “I plan to be a loving and understanding father to her. I love my wife and children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.
“We are grateful for your consideration for all the children involved as we move forward together,” he concluded.
The Independent has reached out to Grohl's representatives for comment.
Grohl has been married to Blum, 48, since August 2003. The couple met two years earlier at the Sunset Marquis whiskey bar in West Hollywood. At the time, Blum had just broken into the film industry as a producer for MTV, abandoning her modeling career to one day pursue her directorial dreams.
According to Grohl's 2007 interview with SheThe rock star didn't return Blum's calls until three months after their first meeting. It took him 12 weeks to decide he wanted to pursue the creative relationship and two years of dating before he said “I do,” promising to spend the rest of his life with her.
Grohl's current wife has notoriously worked alongside him, helping direct his band's music videos, as she did with “Walking a Line.” She also starred in the band's “White Limo” video.
Three years later, Blum gave birth to her first child with the musician, Violet. Shortly after, the couple welcomed two more daughters: Harper Willow, 15, and Ophelia Saint, 10.
Violet, 18, has followed in her father's footsteps and wants to forge her own career path in the music industry. During Foo Fighters' performance at the 2023 Glastonbury festival, Grohl's eldest daughter joined him on stage and was introduced as “his favourite singer in the world”.
Blum and his three girls have been a constant presence for Grohl, accompanying him on the red carpet and supporting him at his shows. According to People Violent Magazine has deactivated its Instagram account following its father's confession on September 10.
Grohl and Blum were recently spotted together at the 2024 Wimbledon tennis tournament in London. The director was photographed wearing a blue collared dress with short sleeves, while the artist on stage sported a smart suit and slicked back hair.
Before Blum, the “Smells Like Teen Spirit” creator was married to Jennifer Youngblood, a photographer. The former couple were together for three years, from 1994 to 1997.
