It's time to ditch the classic root beer float—there's a new, ultra-sweet fizzy drink that's making waves among sugar fanatics.
For those craving spicy popsicles with thick, comforting marshmallow shots, TikTok users are encouraging you to try their latest obsession: Fluffy Coke. With over 20.7 million posts on the app alone, this smooth, bubbly concoction is proving to be the summer mocktail for everyone with a sweet tooth.
For weeks, Gen Z fans have been rushing to slather their glasses with the classic Fluff sandwich glaze before pouring their ice-cold Coke. But what inspired this concoction? Fluffy Coke is a new take on an older trend of spooning glaze onto the inside of a cup before adding the drink.
On July 6, TikToker Emma Grace racked up over 3.8 million views on the video she posted titled “Making a Fluffy Coke with my Memama.” Emma and her Memama are seen sipping their cold drinks through large yellow straws.
“Look how fluffy my Coca-Cola is,” said Memama. “Let’s make a fluffy Coca-Cola.”
Emma then demonstrated how to use a rubber spatula to spread the fluff around the inside of her plastic cup. “Oooh, I could eat a big spoonful of this,” Memama proclaimed as she completely covered her clear cup with the white treat.
The duo then filled their cups with the “good ice,” the small round ice balls, before Emma opened two cans of Coca-Cola, one can per cup.
“Give it a stir and cheers,” Emma exclaimed as she took her first sip. Instead of waiting for the marshmallow to melt in her cup, Emma grabbed her straw and scraped the sticky mess off the sides.
Ever since Emma posted her Fluffy Coke tutorial, eager viewers have been quick to try out the creamy concoction. While some loved the drink, others expressed concerns about the sugar content.
A standard 12-ounce can of Coca-Cola contains 39 grams of sugar, while two tablespoons of marshmallow creme contain six grams of added sugar. Of course, for those concerned about nutritional facts, Diet Coke and Coke Zero are sugar-free.
TikTok user Noah Stepherson urged his followers to buy the Marshmallow Fluff brand instead of Jet-Puffed Fluff for anyone who wanted to make the drink with a little less calories. Jet-Puffed Fluff has just 45 calories, while Marshmallow Fluff has 40 calories.
“Most of the girls' math is left out so they weigh less than 45 calories,” one TikTok user joked beneath Stepherson's video.
TikTok account Food52 has declared Fluffy Coke to be the new “dirty soda” of summer and an alternative to midday coffee in its taste test video that has garnered more than 126,000 views.
