Bali, the picturesque Indonesian Island, has become one of the most wanted travel destinations in the world in recent years. Its impressive beaches, rich culture and affordability have attracted a wide range of tourists, from families and newly married to solo travelers and single couples.

Only in 2024, Bali, according to reports, welcomed 6.3 million international tourists, marking a new record. However, a strange claim has recently become viral online.

A Jumpers Jump Replay podcast clip is with a conversation with its warning that single couples visiting Bali are often broken shortly after. The clip has caused a generalized interest, especially after many people began to share similar experiences in Reddit and in the comments section of the viral video.

Meanwhile, some stories are mysteriously the same:

A user in Reddit said: “We went to Bali for our honeymoon and divorced 6 months later.”

Another wrote: “My boyfriend and I also broke after our trip. But I met my husband just after, it could be a disguised blessing.”

“I'm not sure if it's real, but I also ended my 2 -year relationship there,” said an individual.

Most of these rupture stories are linked to the Temple of Tanah Lot, one of the most emblematic reference points of Bali. Located on a rocky shore and surrounded by the sea, the temple is both a religious site and a great tourist attraction.

Built in the 16th century and dedicated to the gods of the sea, Tanah Lot is admired for its impressive sunsets and their peaceful environment. But beyond its beauty, the temple is also associated with a local legend.

The story speaks of a Javanese prince and princess who once visited Tanah Lot. During his romantic escape, the prince left the princess. With a broken heart, it is said that he cursed the earth, declaring that any single couple who visits would separate in six months. Since then, this story is known online as the “Bali rupture curse”.

Interestingly, comparisons such as the Dakshineswar temple in Kolkata have been made, where similar beliefs discourage the visits of single couples.

Even so, not everyone believes that the curse is real. Many argue that traveling together, especially on an international first trip, can reveal compatibility problems. Constant time together, travel stress and differences can prove any relationship.

So, although the legend adds mystery to Bali's charm, it may not be broken due to a curse, they simply gain clarity.
