Do you find it difficult to cut a pineapple? While it can be a bit tricky if you are not familiar with the process, it is possible to do so by following a few simple steps. Peeling or cutting pineapple incorrectly can sometimes lead to an itchy sensation in your throat or mouth. Chef Kunal Kapur has shared an easy method to simplify this process. Here is a step-by-step guide based on his Instagram video:

1. Start by using a cloth to hold the pointed leaves at the top of the pineapple to avoid hurting your fingers. Then, cut off the stem at the bottom with a knife.

2. Stand the pineapple upright and cut it in half. Look at the natural lines on the pineapple skin and use them as a guide for your knife.

3. Place the pineapple half on a cutting board. Cut along the natural lines visible on the peel. After this, rotate the pineapple 90 degrees and cut along the new set of lines.

This method allows you to obtain small, uniformly sized pineapple pieces that can be enjoyed with a toothpick. This method also reduces the chances of the small spines in the peel irritating your mouth and ensures that as little pulp as possible is wasted.

By following this technique, cutting a pineapple becomes easier and more efficient. It ensures a cleaner and more enjoyable cutting experience. Additionally, it is beneficial to store whole pineapples at room temperature for a few days. Once cut, the pineapple should be refrigerated and consumed within a week to maintain its freshness.

Lastly, this fruit can be enjoyed fresh, juiced or cooked and is used in a wide variety of dishes, from fruit salads and smoothies to savory dishes such as sweet and sour pork. Pineapple is also available in various forms of preservation, including dried or frozen, making it a perfect ingredient for cooking and baking.
