A waiter has been openly discussing some of his biggest pet peeves with restaurant customers.

In a viral video posted to TikTok, user Dylan Carlino (@dylanpcarlino) said his “favorite part” of his job is “punishing people for bad behavior at the restaurant.” One example of bad behavior he gave was people who decided to take a table for themselves instead of waiting for a hostess or other restaurant staff member to seat them.

Carlino explained that when this happens and customers decide to sit in his section, he lets them sit at the table for about 20 minutes until they finally flag him down to let him know that no one helped them.

“I say to them, ‘Nobody helped you? There are dirty dishes, what are you talking about? They already ate,’” the waiter repeated what he told the customers. “They say, ‘This isn’t ours.’”

“I ask them, ‘Did you come in, sit down, and not talk to anyone?’” Carlino said. After customers confirm they took the first table they saw with no one sitting at it, Carlino responds, “That’s not how restaurants work. Get up. We need to go talk to the hostess. There’s a 30-minute wait.”

“Job title: server. Job duties: judge, jury, executioner. Get up. The table is too big for you anyway. There are two people, why are you sitting at a table for six?” the clip ends.

After posting, Pug's TikTok received over a million views and counting, with many servers taking to the comments section where they expressed how common the practice is.

“And they ALWAYS choose the dirty table? Why? How?” one person asked in the comments.

“My favorite method is to pretend to be OUTRAGED that a host sat them that way until they reveal that they sat themselves,” one server explained of his method for dealing with customers who sit alone.

“I used to go and clear the table and say, ‘Thank you so much for coming! I hope you have a great evening,’ and walk away. Priceless,” said another waiter.

A third waiter mentioned in the comments: “I had three people do this to me once. They literally walked around the big WAIT TO BE SENATED sign to sit at a dirty table. I ignored them. They waved me down and asked for menus. Me: Can you read? Them: ? Me: Can you read?”

Flight attendants also left comments saying they didn't understand how customers could just walk past without doing anything.

“I USED TO HOST AND HOW COME PEOPLE DON’T KNOW NOT TO SIT?” one person wrote in the comments.

“As a hostess, I ALWAYS used to have people walk past me and sit down, so I would wait until they started looking confused and then walk over and throw the menus on their table while staring at them,” one former hostess revealed about her method of dealing with these customers.

This isn't the first time a waitress has gone viral on TikTok. Sam McCall previously took to the platform to show her followers how their hairstyles would affect the tips she received. “I'm testing the waitress hair theory to see what gets me the most tips,” she wrote in her clip.

The hairstyle that earned her the most tips was a half-up, half-down look, which earned her $465 in tips.
