The perfect summer salad is crunchy and tangy and has over 14.1 million views on TikTok. It's the viral cucumber salad invented by celebrity foodie Logan.

On TikTok, Logan (@logagm) is considered the leader of the “cucumber community,” as he shares numerous recipes for cold, crunchy jarred cucumber salads. With over 4.8 million followers on the app and an average of two to six million views on most videos, Logan has made waves with his delicious and easy-to-make cucumber-based dishes.

“I was about to go to sleep, but I was craving a whole cucumber,” the celebrity chef said in a July 19 video. Logan’s signature cooking style involves using a whole cucumber and slicing it with a mandolin over a Tupperware container. He then adds a variety of flavors and seasonings, most notably soy sauce, chili crunch, grated garlic, sesame seeds, rice vinegar and sesame oil. Logan ends by furiously shaking the container, mixing the flavors together and eating one cucumber slice at a time with a pair of metal chopsticks.

Keen diners have been quick to try Logan's cucumber salad, following her technique but changing up some of the ingredients. Alix Earle tried out the recipe in a TikTok posted on August 9, but as she attempted the first step (slicing the cucumber), the beauty influencer realized the danger of using a mandoline.

“You guys said to be really careful with this,” he said of the mandolin. “Apparently, these are really sharp and dangerous.” In the video, Earle proceeded to slice the cucumber, being careful not to get his fingers near the blades. “Oh, I see these can be really dangerous,” he confessed.

Although Earle made it through the cooking process without injury and happily enjoyed the finished product, one creator who attempted to follow the recipe ended up in the emergency room.

On August 11, Jackson Dean failed to make it past the first step of the viral recipe when he accidentally caught his fingertip on the mandolin blade. “Moments before disaster,” the on-screen message read.

Dean filmed himself making Logan's viral salad alongside his girlfriend and fellow TikToker, Paige Taylor. “Oh my god, be careful with your hand,” Taylor pleaded with Dean. After getting used to moving the cucumber back and forth with the sharp tool, Dean began experimenting and overdoing the technique, forgetting to keep his fingers away from the bottom.

Dean quickened his pace as the cucumber shrank and completely ripped off the tip of his middle finger. “Ow,” he cried, dropping the cucumber and mandolin. “Ow, oh, fuck. Fuck. Fuck. We need to go to the hospital.”

In a later post on Taylor's page, the couple sat in the emergency room wearing masks as Dean held up her bandaged finger. “POV: Your boyfriend trying to make Logan's cucumber salad,” Taylor said.

Viewers flooded the comments section of her video, pointing out how Taylor had warned Dean to be careful, but he didn't listen.

“The way you always said to be careful with your hand,” one follower wrote, while another added: “What did we learn here today? NEVER LET JACKSON MAKE A CUCUMBER SALAD.”

“Bro I thought they were acting,” a third admitted, to which Taylor replied, “I THOUGHT HE WAS TOO.”
