Tulsidas, the people's poet, was celebrated for his profound contributions to religious literature, including the 'Hanuman Chalisa', which is also believed to have been written by him.
Tulsidas Jayanti commemorates the birth anniversary of Hindu saint and poet Goswami Tulsidas. This important occasion is celebrated annually on the seventh day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Sawan. This year, it is being celebrated today, August 11. Tulsidas, the people’s poet, was celebrated for his profound contributions to religious literature, including the “Hanuman Chalisa,” which is also believed to have been written by him.
However, Tulsidas is best known for his epic Ramcharitmanas, a version of the Sanskrit Ramayana in the Awadhi language that made it accessible to all. In this context, Tulsidas was often considered a reincarnation of Maharishi Valmiki, the composer of the original Sanskrit Ramayana.
