Travis Kelce has broken a Kansas City Chiefs record, but without Taylor Swift showing up to see it.

On Christmas Day (Wednesday, December 25), the Chiefs played the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium with a final score of 29-10 and the Chiefs earned their 15th victory of the season. However, Kelce's girlfriend was not present as he achieved a record-breaking moment.

During the fourth quarter of the game, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes passed the ball to Kelce in the end zone and he scored a touchdown. With his 12-yard score, this was Kelce's first touchdown of the game and his 77th touchdown reception of his entire career.

The reception surpassed Hall of Fame tight end Tony González, who had a total of 76 touchdown receptions. Kelce now has the most touchdown receptions in Chiefs history.

After catching it, Kelce took the ball and spiked it over the upright, which is considered “unsportsmanlike conduct” and cost the team a 15-yard penalty when it came time to score a field goal for an extra point.

Kelce also reached 1,000 career receptions in the NFL during the Christmas Day game. He is now just the third tight end in league history to reach this number, with only Gonzalez (1,325) and former Dallas Cowboys player Jason Witten (1,228) ahead of him.

The game was part of Netflix's NFL Christmas Game Day broadcast, as the streaming giant also aired the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans game at NRG Stadium, featuring a halftime show by Beyoncé .

Compared to last season, Swift hasn't attended as many football games and most of the ones she attended were just home games. This was largely due to his Eras Tour schedule, where he had his last performance on December 8 in Vancouver, Canada.

Despite this schedule, Swift has tried to attend every home game the Chiefs played during their breaks to show his support for Kelce.

He reportedly did not attend many away games this year due to lack of security at other football stadiums. “If she goes somewhere other than Arrowhead, there are safety concerns,” a source previously said. Page six. “They have worked with Arrowhead so many times that they feel comfortable and at ease. To go to all kinds of different stadiums, you need to send a team in advance.”

The Grammy winner's non-appearance at the recent Chiefs game comes after Kelce appeared to hint at his retirement from football.

During last week's episode of his new heights On the podcast, co-hosted with his older brother, Jason Kelce, he noted that he might have played his last game in Cleveland.

“I don't know if it's the last time I'll play in Cleveland, but I felt like I was having one last hurrah before I'm done because I've only played there twice in 12 years.” said.

Travis is in the midst of his 12th season with the Chiefs. Jason announced his retirement from the NFL after playing 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this year.
