A fire severely damaged the historic Westlake Pacific car restaurant on Thursday morning, which led to the demolition of much of the structure on the site later that afternoon.
The fire was the second fire reported in the restaurant closed in less than a year.
Approximately 100 Los Angeles firefighters responded to the fire in the 1300 block of West 6th Street. The call came at 6:53 am, and the first to respond arrived at the facilities at 7:06 am
Once inside, the firefighters determined that the fire had begun in the attic, damaging it together with the roof of the structure. The building was vacant and there were no injuries.
He took about 45 minutes to knock down the fire. Fire researchers are still determining the cause.
Later that afternoon, Los Angeles fire spokesman David Ortiz told CBS 2 that the department took out an excavator to demolish a part of the building because it represented a danger for those who walked.

The Los Angeles construction and security department was also on the scene to determine the structural integrity of the building. An email to the department was not responded immediately.
The restaurant, built in 1921 and moved to its current location in 1923, was designed to resemble a railway car. He permanently closed in 2020 and was approached and surrounded at the time of the fire.
