For many of us, Father's Day celebrates more than only parents. Father also honors figures who took a step forward and offered support, regardless of their biological connection. They come in all forms, from uncles and brothers to friends and mentors, enriching our lives with their orientation and care.
For my children, they were their “weapons”, Carl and Terry, who played an important role in their lives. They were collected from the school, they kept the flashlight while checking the lice, helped them with the task of mathematics and attended their school performances. There were also my brothers and multiple coaches, the Lacrosse coach of my son's elementary school recently attended one of his final university games, and the friends of the late father.
As Father's Day approached, we are eager to listen to their stories about the father's figures who have molded him. Either a family member, advisor or older brother, or perhaps a stepfather or teacher, we want to know how they have influenced their life.
